Login-process updates to Qualtrics environment scheduled for June 22

Security will be enhanced with addition of multifactor authentication.

Information Technology Services will soon update the login process for the Metropolitan State University of Denver Qualtrics environment. These changes will:

  • Improve the security of Qualtrics login sessions by including the additional authentication factors (multifactor authentication, or MFA) used in MSU Denver’s Office 365 environment.
  • Create a more consistent and modern-looking login experience.

Updates are scheduled for June 22 during the ITS maintenance window of 10 p.m.-6 a.m.

About Qualtrics

Qualtrics XM is a platform available to all staff and faculty members for creating, distributing and tracking digital surveys. Currently, users see a basic MSU Denver-branded screen when logging in to Qualtrics or when taking any Qualtrics survey that requires user authentication. This is because while the system is set up to synchronize with MSU Denver NetIDs and passwords, it does so via an older method that doesn’t include important features that have become available since the University began using Qualtrics.

What to expect

Most users will not need to take any action as part of these updates; however, everyone should be aware that their Qualtrics login experience will change.

Users will see the MSU Denver single-sign-on login screen when accessing Qualtrics XM or attempting to fill out a survey that requires MSU Denver authentication.

  • No downtime is expected, but users are advised not to log in to Qualtrics during the update period, as they may lose any changes to surveys.
  • No other services will be affected.

Next steps for survey-builders

Action may be required for employees who manage a Qualtrics survey that requires respondents to log in, since many of these surveys are configured with older settings that will eventually stop working as part of these changes. Fortunately, this is very easy:

  • Within your survey, navigate to the Survey Flow section for an “SSO Type” entry.
  • If it says “LDAP,” change it to “Use Brand Settings.”
  • That’s all!
